From Cluttered and Covered-Up to Confident and Camera-Ready: The Transformation Behind My Photoshoot
I Used to Dread Being In Photos
Not just the awkward smile or trying to find the right angle—but the sinking feeling that the person I saw in the picture didn’t match who I felt I could be. Maybe you’ve felt that too—self-conscious, wishing you’d worn something different, or wondering how everyone else seems to just glow on camera. For me, it wasn’t just about weight. It was about clutter—inside and out. Physical clutter in my home. Mental clutter from years of grief. Emotional weight I didn’t know I was carrying.
But something shifted. And that shift eventually led me to book a photoshoot—not out of vanity, but out of victory.
The Quiet Weight of Always Being “Too Much” or “Not Enough”
For years, I hid behind busy schedules, oversized clothes, and “I’ll do it later.” I told myself I’d book the photoshoot once I lost 10 more pounds, once I organized the house, once life slowed down. Spoiler alert: it never did.
When we carry excess weight—on our bodies or in our homes—it becomes a constant reminder that we’re not there yet. It whispers that we don’t deserve to take up space, be seen, or feel beautiful. But here’s what I’ve learned: transformation isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about revealing the you that’s been buried under all the layers.
Clutter, Weight, and Confidence Are More Connected Than You Think
When I started decluttering, I thought it was just about cleaning up. But every drawer I emptied, every bag I donated, was an act of self-respect. A declaration that I mattered. That my space should reflect the peace I was craving.
And as I let go of clutter, I started letting go of weight too—not just on the scale, but in my spirit. I stopped eating to cope. I started walking more. Drinking more water. Saying “no” more often. I started treating myself like someone worth taking care of.
Taking Care of Myself—On Purpose
I bought a lipstick that made me feel bold. I actually used the fancy shampoo. I started doing my hair even if I wasn’t going anywhere. Not because I had to—but because it made me feel good. Seen. Human.
The more I cared for myself, the more confident I felt. The more confident I felt, the more I wanted to be seen—not hidden. And eventually, that led me to book the photoshoot. Not because I’d reached some magic number or because my house was picture-perfect. But because I finally felt like me again—and I wanted to capture that.
This Wasn’t Just a Photoshoot—It Was a Celebration
Hair done. Makeup on. Clothes that made me feel strong, not small. I stood in front of the camera and smiled—not just with my mouth, but with my whole body. I’d wanted to work with Debbie of FiftyLove Photography since the first time I saw her work. There’s just something about the way she captures women—strong, radiant, real. She makes women feel beautiful, not by changing them, but by seeing them fully.
That’s why I knew we’d make a great pair.
Because while she helps women feel seen, I help women feel in control—of their lives, their homes, their health. Together, we show what’s possible when you finally decide to take your power back. To stop hiding and start shining.
I didn’t hide behind angles. I didn’t apologize. I celebrated.
“Set a goal so big that you can’t achieve it until you grow into the person who can.”

You Deserve to Be Seen—Now, Not “Someday”
If you’re waiting to lose more weight…
If you’re waiting until the house is spotless…
If you’re waiting until grief feels less heavy…
Let me gently say: you don’t have to wait to love yourself. You can treat yourself well right now. You can clean out one drawer. Put on your favorite lip color. Move your body because it feels good.
You are worthy of being seen. Not the “after” version of you. You—today.
And when you start to believe that? You won’t just want to step in front of the camera.
You’ll shine in it.

Need Help?
Let’s create a plan to help you feel better in your body—physically, emotionally, and mentally. If weight has started to feel like a burden you can’t shake, there is a way forward. If you’re overwhelmed by the thought of starting (again), a shift in mindset can lead to real, lasting change. You don’t have to do it alone. Let’s work together.
